New Zealand has many companies that help home sell (For Sale by Owner) owners market their property. Each should be taken on its merits. Some of these homesell companies have been operating for many years while others are new to the private sale market. Check each of them out based on what they can supply, how professional they are, what level of service or the amount of help you may need from the private sale company.
In selecting a private sale company to use, there are three main types of home sell options to consider. The first is simply a basic property listing on a private sale website. There websites usually pop up from time to time but may not be around for long (the directory below indicates which ones are still around and the ones that are gone). The second homesell type option is for those that are needing a professional edge to their marketing and sales process, but are comfortable with organising this themselves (these people typically use DIY Real Estate - established 1999) and can spend as little a $19 through to around $200. This is more of a pick and mix option. The third choice is to use a full service private sale company like HomeSell who provide everything - often also including a TradeMe advert. Pricing starts at about $700 and goes to approximately $2,800. At the end of the day, it's up to you, the seller to decide what you are comfortable with.
